How to test whether your internet is working

This page answers a simple question: can your device open a connection to the internet right now? The test starts by itself as soon as the page opens, without you having to type anything. It is a quick indication, not a complete diagnosis of your network.

  1. Open the page. The check starts automatically and the icon shows an hourglass while it runs.
  2. Read the result: "Internet connection detected" in green, "Partial connection" in yellow when only some of the destinations respond, or a red message when no destination is reached or the browser reports that it has no network.
  3. Below, see the details: the network status reported by the browser and the result for each destination, with the "connection response time" in milliseconds.
  4. To repeat the test, click "Check Again".

The page also reacts by itself when the browser reports that the connection dropped (it shows "No connection detected") or came back (it runs the test again).

What is tested and what it means

The two external attempts use a browser mode that does not allow reading the server's response. For that reason, the test can only say that the connection to the destination was opened; it does not confirm that the server responded without error. The time shown is the connection response time, not a speed measurement. To find out how many megabits you have, use the speed test.

Privacy and how it works

The checks are made by your browser, which contacts Google and Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) directly, as with any access to those addresses; these services may see your IP in that connection. The tool does not save a history or use local storage for this test. See the Privacy Policy.

Frequently asked questions

Why does "Partial connection" appear?

At least one of the destinations was not reached. Google or Cloudflare may be blocked on your network, the connection may be unstable, or the browser may have no network. The detail of each test shows which one failed.

Does this measure my internet speed?

No. The milliseconds indicate the connection response time to each destination, not the download or upload speed.

Why does the browser say there is a network and the page detects no connection?

The browser only knows that a network is attached. A Wi-Fi network without internet access still counts as connected, but the external destinations are not reached.

Does "Connection detected" guarantee that everything works?

No. It only guarantees that the test connections were opened. A specific site may still be down, and the quality of the connection is not evaluated.

Can I use it to find out my IP?

That is not its purpose. For that, use the public IP tool.
